Reporting Timeline for Team Projects

We'll be sending email to remind you as the deadline for reports approaches. Also you will be able to sumit your reports online for convenience.

Phase I – Due May 5, 2005

Each team will turn in at the end of their team session, Thursday, May 5, 2005 a list of 3-5 ideas for possible projects along with a paragraph for each describing why it is one of their top ideas. You may need to gather more information to decide what project your team will pursue.  The project you ultimately select to pursue should meet all of the following guidelines:

  • Consistent with learning centered principles and practices
  • Potential to favorably impact campus climate
  • Potential to reduce barriers to the success of students with disabilities
  • Includes individuals other than NFC team members

Phase II- Due June 15, 2005

  • One Page Description of Project
  • One Page List of Project Goals
  • One Page Timeline (what will be accomplished by December 1, 2004)

Phase III - Due September 15, 2005

  • Detailed Project Plan including
    • People involved
    • Data to be used
    • Data to be generated
    • Revised timeline
    • Resources needed

Phase IV- Due November 15, 2005

Your Project

  • Briefly describe your project.
  • What specific need at your institution led you to select this particular team project?
  • What were the main goals of your team project?
  • Describe the timeline for your project beginning with the planning meeting the last day of the NFC Institute in Tucson .
  • Describe the outcomes of your project and summarize any data collected.

In the Needs Assessment portion of the Pre-Work for the Institute, we asked your team to describe how your institution a) supports students with disabilities, b) supports teaching innovation, and c) is learning-centered. We then asked you to select the area most needing change at your institution, and what led you to select that area. We also asked which area you felt would be most open to change. (You can go back to the website to review your answers to these questions).

Now, in retrospect, after your team project has been implemented, what have you learned about your institution you might not have known at the time you answered the Pre-Work questions?

With the advantage of hindsight, you might have structured your team project differently if you were planning it today:

  • Would you have chosen the same area? Why or why not?
  • Would you have involved the same people? Why or why not?
  • Would you have structured the project differently? Why or why not?

Finally, how will you now widen your circle of influence and continue to promote learning-centered educational principles at your institution or other institutions?

Process Questions

  • Describe the process of working on your team project (team meetings format, etc).
  • What challenges or barriers did you face?
  • What was most enjoyable about this type of collaboration?
  • Was the cross-disciplinary nature of your team a help or a hindrance, why or why not?

Future Plans

What specific plans do you have for continuing your efforts?
